Pseudofolliculitis barbae – Antibiotics may make it worse!


Is your Pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB) being made worse by antibiotics? It is very likely! Many people get prescribed antibiotics to deal with conditions such as acne and other skin problems and infections in the body. Some may even have antibiotics prescribed for PFB.

Depending on the antibiotics, and how you take them, the balance of bacteria on and in your body may shift, leading to an increase in the number of harmful bacteria. This may easily occur in the nose, where the bacteria involved in razor bumps and scalp bumps usually reside. If these bacteria do spread to other parts of the body, especially considering the proximity of the nose to the mustache and beard areas, they may result in a worse case of razor bumps! Crazy right?

So it is possible that the drugs you are taking to treat Pseudofolliculitis barbae is actually making it worse. Ensure you ask for correct directions from your medical practitioner and follow them to the fullest to avoid worsening your case.
