Razor bump prevention from Africa

If you go to Africa, especially south of the Sahara, you will notice that razor bumps are actually relatively rare. If you leave the big cities and venture into the countrysides and villages, you would notice that razor bumps are even more rare.

What is this? I believe it is because of this particular little wonder; the African sponge. In the big cities, many Africans have moved away from some traditional products such as the 'black soap' and shea butter. However in the villages and little towns, traditions are still strong and you find almost everyone uses these bath sponges that are made of 100% natural fibres - No chemicals, no irritants, no nothing.

The secrete of this sponge is probably something a lot less simple though. I believe it is its ability to gently exfoliate the skin without damaging or irritating it. So washing with the African sponge everyday is effectively exfoliating daily - which removes dead skin and opens the pores of the face, and reduces the hiding places for bacteria and viruses that could lead to Pseudofolliculites barbae.

Africans do shave with a blade traditionally - when they do shave, but many Africans don't shave at all. The blade used is closely similar to the antique straight razor blade used in Europe back in the day.

I have since started using this sponge and over time, I have noticed a drastic improvement in the evenness of my facial skin, as well as my whole body. I highly recommend it.
So if you get your hands on it, perhaps in an African store somewhere, or in Africa itself, grab one and give it ago.
